Job Description
The Director of Marketing reports to the Vice President, Sales Optimization, supporting the $6 Billion Distribution Division of Bunzl North America. The role is part of a dynamic and fast-paced environment working to establish, communicate, and execute the strategic direction for all Bunzl Marketing efforts related to both vendor and private label brands. This position will oversee the Brand Management and Creative functions, while working closely with Category Management, Sales, and Marketing Services teams to execute a wide variety of projects for Bunzl North America with specific focus on the Distribution Division.
The Director of Marketing will oversee all Bunzl Distribution Marketing projects, managing through both direct and indirect authority. This role will manage the creative efforts for all Bunzl Distribution needs, while assisting in the creation, definition, and communication of a number of new brands. This person must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to thrive in a high-volume, deadline-driven work environment, working independently, through team leadership and as part of the Sales Optimization leadership team. Further, this person must be able to manage time efficiently with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing often changing priorities.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for designing and executing all Marketing strategies for the Distribution Division with focus on both internal and customer-facing communication.
Develop and implement go-to-market strategies for both vendor and Own Brand products, with a focus on development of materials to help increase sell through.
Create, deliver, and champion internal marketing efforts to support company culture and change initiatives.
Drive improved program results in all areas of responsibility through staff development and coaching; develop methods, procedures, and guidelines to maintain desired standards.
Implementation and management of accountability processes for day-to-day and long-term operations of the team.
Provide structure to the Own Brand product development process to ensure successful product launches to the sales teams and broader organization, enabling sales growth.
Lead and influence cross-functional teams on all Marketing and Brand initiatives.
Measure and report performance of brand-focused KPIs.
Develop multi-channel demand-generation programs, including setting and executing strategy, developing forecasts, evaluating appropriate budget levels, and measuring results.
Lead the execution of marketing projects from start to finish, leveraging internal support, customer communication, and driving collaboration.
Support the creation of content across all mediums, with hands-on creative involvement.
Analyze customer insights, consumer trends, market analysis, and best practices to build successful branding strategies.
Research and monitor market trends, customer markets and competitors’ activities.
Monitor product distribution, competitive intel, and customer reactions. Recommend adjustments and improvements throughout.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree Marketing, Business or related field required. MBA preferred.
5-10 years of proven success in progressively more senior Marketing roles in multi-billion-dollar organizations.
Significant, demonstrated experience in multi-level personnel leadership.
Aptitude for creation, development, and management through process, including the Stage Gate Model.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
Proven ability to analyze data and market conditions to develop brand and marketing strategies and make influential recommendations to executives and sellers.
Experience in identifying target audiences and devising effective campaigns to influence behavior.
Excellent understanding and experience with the full marketing mix.
Strong analytical skills partnered with a creative mind.
Outstanding communication skills.
