Now hiring: Agriculture Accountant (part time)
JOB OVERVIEW
Who are we looking for? Dedicated, hard-working and passionate individuals that care deeply about agriculture. We are a diverse row crop operation that likes to push the barriers of technology and production, so we need team members that share the same goal and bring skills to the operation that help us achieve those goals. Our production is focused on row crop grain production including popcorn, NGMO corn, NGMO soybeans, certified organic production, and other specialty and commercial crops.
This role will be specifically focused on the financial aspects of our agricultural enterprise. Agriculture experience is not required but we are looking for someone who is self-motivated, driven, ready to learn and is an excellent communicator.
ACCOUNTANT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate effectively and provide candid feedback
- Maintain an organized system of accounts and supported filing system
- Financial data entry, accounts payable, payment processing and payroll
- Customer invoicing
- Inventory management and tracking
- Asset tracking and asset management, asset reporting for insurance
- Banking duties such as deposits, account transfers, wire transfers and ACH
- Reconcile bank accounts, loan accounts, including accurate recording of principal and interest breakouts, and other accounts on monthly basis
- Cost distribution and tracking among multiple profit centers
- Pull and extrapolate data from Excel databases along with other farm management and ERP platforms
- Field/profit center level cost and revenue tracking
- Prepare and maintain cashflows
- Monthly financial reports and projections
- Detailed analysis and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
- Year-end financial analysis, reports and tax preparation
- Compile year-end information as needed for annual tax return preparation by outside CPA
- Work with Human Resources with documentation needs and filing requirements
EXPERIENCE
- Experience working with intercompany accounts and billing
- Experience producing monthly financial statements for multiple companies and, in some instances, consolidating multiple companies financial statements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration
KEY SKILL AREAS
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
- Experience or willingness to learn production agriculture
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with CenterPoint Accounting for agriculture
- Exceptional performance with minimal supervision
