Job Summary:
The Platform Product Manager sits within a product team and is a key position to drive the success of the product. With thousands of users of the product, this role offers the opportunity to apply your technical knowledge and product management skills to develop a robust platform that meets the needs of our user community and drives value in enabling the firm to best protect and manage its data. You'll help to guide platform capabilities for engineers, business users, application owners in their business efforts around governance of metadata, access, quality, lineage and more.
To be successful, the candidate must be a highly technical, dynamic, partner-oriented product leader. The goal of the Platform PM is to deliver value to the users and business by advancing the core ecosystem of the firm's data governance and management platform. The candidate will help drive a highly available platform with a microservices architecture, directly guiding several scrum teams in creating the mid-tier to deliver optimal value and rich experiences to their end-users.
Job Responsibilities:
Manage a team of Product Analysts and set the direction of multiple scrum teams.
Drive a cohesive platform and experience that will support the needs of the data governance product, building a data catalog to mange and control access, quality, and data use in the cloud
Partner with internal lines of business and partner products to capture data-influenced technical and non-technical customer requirements, and communicate them concretely to the engineering teams in terms of customer-based outcomes
Define and communicate product vision, strategy, and delivery roadmap aligned with the business goals
Understand, research, and follow technical trends in the industry and in general. Able to assess emerging products and companies to measure their potential value or threat to the company and its products, as well as make recommendations on which new technologies to invest in or leverage
Ensure superior QA and testing strategy, high availability of the product
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
5+ years in platform product management, technical product management, or related field
2+ years management experience
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Sciences, or related field
Proven experience in managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle
Strong technical background with a deep understanding of the software development process
Proficiency in Agile methodologies, product planning, market research, product discovery, and product development practices
Experience defining and managing the product's business metrics, including cost, feature and functionality, risk posture and reliability
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
Master's Degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Sciences, or related field
Experience building a metadata database
Knowledge of data governance principles
