Under guidance from the Director of Information Technology, the Information Systems Technician I provides basic technical support to employees and maintains employee workstations as well as classroom\lab equipment. It also performs technical work with printers and telecommunications equipment. This position has primary responsibility for student laptops.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Provide technical support to College employees by:
Answering calls to the Help Desk
Resolving issues and fulfilling service requests submitted through the College’s technology ticketing system in accordance with Service Level Agreements
Updating tickets with information on the status of issues and services requests, including the resolution
Work with vendor support to resolve issues
Escalating issues and service requests to Technician II, Technician III, the Enterprise Application team, or the Infrastructure Services team as needed
Perform user account management by:
Creating, modifying, disabling, and deleting user accounts
Resetting passwords
Assigning and un-assigning group membership
Maintain employee workstations by:
Deploying images
Installing and configuring applications
Applying updates and upgrading operating systems and applications
Resolving operating system and application issues
Maintain technology in classrooms and labs including:
Instructor workstations and student systems by:
Deploying images
Installing and configuring applications
Applying updates and upgrading operating systems and applications
Resolving operating system and application issues
Audio\visual equipment such as projectors, projector screens, microphones, cameras, and connecting equipment by:
Installing and configuring
Troubleshooting
Printers
Maintain laptops issued to students by:
Deploying images
Installing and configuring applications
Applying updates and upgrading operating systems and applications
Resolving operating system and application issues
Have primary responsibility for maintaining the formally defined student laptop standard and updating images to implement this standard as well as ensuring that this service is offered in accordance with the Service Level Agreement
Maintain data collaboration tools such as network-based file shares, audio\video conference, email, and cloud-based collaboration systems by:
Creating user accounts, where necessary
Enabling access to and security for resources
Troubleshooting access issues
Maintain printers and copiers by:
Installing and configuring devices for printing and, where applicable, scanning and faxing
Perform routine maintenance
Troubleshooting
Maintain telecommunications systems by:
Installing and configuring phones for employees and in public areas
Assisting employees with configuring features such as voice mail and call forwarding
Manage technology assets by:
Assisting with the procurement process
Properly storing equipment
Maintaining the asset database
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The following are the minimum qualifications candidates must have to be considered for this position:
Associate’s Degree in an information technology-related field OR a minimum of one years’ experience with computer support
Knowledge of and experience with:
Personal computer hardware, such as HP or Dell
Windows operating systems
Microsoft Office application suite
Required skills:

Work independently after receiving direction
